Greece has once again earned top honors in the U.S. travel market, strengthening its reputation as one of Europe’s most popular destinations among American travelers. The recognition was announced by the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO).
The country received two major awards at prominent travel industry events organized by U.S.-based publishing company FXExpress Publications:
- Favorite Country — 7th Consecutive Year: Greece claimed the award at the 12th Annual Trazees 2026, which recognizes the travel preferences and habits of millennial travelers.
- Best Family-Friendly Multigenerational Destination — 4th Consecutive Year: Greece received the honor at the 9th Annual Wherever Awards 2026, which celebrates destinations favored by modern families traveling across generations.
Both annual awards celebrate excellence across a wide range of travel categories, from urban, culinary, and family destinations to leading airports, airlines, hotel brands, cruise lines, and theme parks.
The GNTO said the awards highlight the success of Greece’s targeted tourism promotion efforts in North America, supported by record direct flight connectivity between major U.S. cities and Athens.
Winners are selected through an open, months-long online survey involving thousands of readers of Trazee Travel and WhereverFamily.
The joint awards ceremony for The Trazees and the Wherever Awards was held on Monday, August 3, 2026, in Chicago.
